Organising a company summer party can be a bit scary. With so many people to impress - your colleagues, clients... and probably even your boss - we don't blame you for feeling the pressure. Luckily, Hire Space venue expert Ralph Parham has kindly pulled together his top five tips for holding a summer party that'll go down a treat. Put your feet up and read on...

1. Enough outdoor space

Venues with outside space are great, but make sure the space is large enough for all your guests. If the sun comes out, everyone will want to be outside.

2. Have a Great British back-up plan

And if the rain does decide to make an appearance, make sure you've got a contingency plan!

3. In season

Ask venues about their summer drinks packages for your event. There are some really good deals out there, like a Pimm's reception or a summer cocktail menu - these are sure to kick start the party.

4. All about activities

If you're planning an informal party, set the right mood by getting in some fun outdoor games. You know the kind – giant chess and Jenga, tug o' war, piñatas, boules, and swing-ball, to name a few old favourites.

5. Embrace the summer

Go for a summer theme! Some popular options include Desert Island Discs, Tarzan and Jane, Grease, a beach or pool party, and Glastonbury. Just be sure your theme is office-appropriate if it is a staff party you're planning, though!

I hope my list helps in the run-up to summer celebrations. I'm always keen to hear of new tips and tricks, so give me a shout on Twitter at @RalphParham if you think I've missed something.
