5 Tips For Organising Summer Parties
Organising a company summer party can be daunting... With so many people to impress - your colleagues, clients, and probably even your boss - we don't blame you for feeling the pressure.
Luckily, we've put together our top tips to set the tone for a summer party that knocks your guests' socks (and sandals) off!
1. Make Sure There's Enough Outdoor Space
Venues with outside space are great, but make sure the space is large enough for all your guests. If the sun comes out, everyone will want to be outside. Check with the venue that the outdoor area can accommodate all of your guests, or that there are indoor areas that get plenty of light and fresh air circulating!
For an impressive setting that offers plenty of natural daylight and shade from trees, Stationers' Hall and Garden is a lovely and sophisticated spot, or if you're looking for something a little quirkier, opt for Studio 9294, situated on the banks of the River Lee in Hackney Wick.
2. Have a Great British Back-up Plan
While we're all relentless optimists when it comes to planning summer events, we do live in Britain, and it's not out of the ordinary for dark clouds to cast a shadow at summer parties! If the rain does decide to make an appearance, make sure you've got a contingency plan - likely an indoor area that you're able to use at the venue, or marquees that are big enough for all your attendees to take shelter under.
3. Scout Out The Best Summer Packages
Summer party venues often offer food and beverage packages that can make your life as an organiser so much easier! Ask venues about their summer drinks options - for instance, a Pimm's reception or a summer cocktail menu are sure to kick start the party!
You might also get a good deal by choosing to go with the venue's preferred package - our top tip is that it's always worth asking about deals when booking your event.
4. Make Sure You Plan Some Ice-breaking Activities
There's nothing like some organised fun to help break the ice at a party, and get guests socialising!
If you're planning an informal party, set the right mood by getting in some fun outdoor games. You know the kind – giant chess and Jenga, tug of war, piñatas, boules, and swing-ball, to name a few old favourites.

5. Embrace The Summer Theme!
Go for a summer theme! Some popular options include Hawaiian shirts, festivals, and beach parties (just be sure your theme is office-appropriate if it is a staff party you're planning). Check out our favourite suppliers to help get the theming spot on!
